Bordao
A brand identity rooted in Colombian craft, land, and biodiversity.
Context
Bordao is a Colombian slow fashion brand based in Amsterdam, hand-embroidered garments made in small batches with deep respect for the people and land behind every piece.
the Challenge
Slow fashion brands often lean on one of two clichés: sanitized minimalism that strips away any sense of place, or folkloric decoration that flattens culture into pattern. Bordao needed an identity that could hold both craft and country without falling into either trap, something that spoke from within Colombian culture, not about it from the outside.
Approach
The icon, four interlaced ellipses in a fixed, symmetrical rhythm, draws from artisan weaving, Colombian flora, and colonial ironwork, letting those references shape the mark itself rather than decorate it. The lowercase wordmark carries the same restraint: warm, high-contrast, no excess. That logic runs through the full system, typography pairing cultural character with clarity, a color palette pulled straight from the Colombian landscape, and photography that treats nature as texture, not backdrop
